Who says hiking with kids means "enduring a trial"? This little-known mountain in Jinxiu, Guangxi, completely changed my perception of family hiking! No kids crying or parents complaining about tiredness, and you can learn while playing—it's amazing~
⛰️ The whole trip relies on cable cars + elevators for an effortless win! The stone steps total less than ten, so walking the entire route with kids is no pressure at all, lazy moms will be thrilled! The temperature on the mountain is super friendly, around 23℃ even in midsummer, perfect for escaping the heat. Kids play freely, and parents can relax~
The scenery here is absolutely stunning, like a mini "Zhangjiajie," with healing green mountains and clear waters. At the same time, it’s a vibrant Yao ethnic culture experience site! While walking, you might get unexpected surprises—passionate battle dances, sweet Yao folk songs, kids get totally engaged and even nod their heads to the rhythm with the local brothers and sisters~🎶 You might even meet the "Panwang" NPC on the cable car, which will excite the kids a lot. This kind of interaction is truly lovable!
My family-friendly route (tested and no regrets!):
Take the cable car from the visitor center straight to the summit → Yao Mountain Viewpoint (amazing views, very healing for kids to watch the distant mountains) → Panwang Waterfall (cool and photogenic, kids can play in the shallow water) → Panwang Heavenly Book (unique landform, perfect for teaching kids some fun facts) → Tianmen (great for photos, family selfies are a must) → Lunch at Panwang Camp (beef noodles are super flavorful, plus milk tea, kids eat happily🍔)
→ Panwang Peak (the core landmark, let kids experience Yao culture) → Take the elevator down the mountain → Yao Village (watch performances, learn simple Yao language, kids are very enthusiastic) → Panwang Temple (pray with kids, feel a different sense of ritual) → One Line Sky + Parrot Peak (natural wonders, kids will keep asking "Why is this so amazing?") → Take the elevator back up → Cable car for an easy descent
The whole route is 8 kilometers, mostly flat, leisurely walking with photos, takes about three hours, and kids don’t complain about being tired at all~
Super thoughtful family tips:
✅ It’s a bit cool at the summit, be sure to bring a light jacket or sun protection clothing for the kids to avoid catching a chill!
✅ Performances happen in different spots, check the times and locations when entering the park so you don’t miss the exciting shows~
✅ Cable cars stop running at 18:30, manage your time well to avoid missing the descent~
✅ The nearby Jinxiu Yao Ethnic Museum (in the county town) is worth a visit to help kids learn more about Yao culture~
✅ Staying in Jinxiu county town is very convenient, just an 8-minute taxi ride to the scenic area, with many accommodation options for kids to rest well~
✅ After arriving at Liuzhou by high-speed rail, take a bus or taxi for about an hour to Jinxiu. It’s easy to get a ride back, making traveling with kids very smooth~
I sincerely recommend bringing your kids here! You don’t have to be exhausted, yet your kids can experience the charm of Yao culture, see breathtaking scenery, and enjoy a deeply immersive experience that’s very meaningful~ This is the right way to do a family vacation, easy and joyful, and it’s already on my list for the next trip with kids! 👏
