The Mulan River is a river that flows into the sea in the eastern part of Fujian Province, China. It originates from Huangkeng Village, Xiyuan Township, Xianyou County, and runs across the central and southern parts of Putian City. It flows from northwest to east through Xianyou County, Chengxiang District, Licheng District, Hanjiang District and other areas of Putian City, and flows into Xinghua Bay and the Taiwan Strait at Sanjiangkou.
Numerous water conservancy facilities along the Mulan River provide ample water and electricity for production within the basin. It is one of Fujian Province's eight major rivers. Furthermore, the Mulan River, its tributaries, and its estuary serve as crucial waterways within the city. For this reason, it is known as the Mother River of the Putian people.
