Three-Storey Vintage Charm Just Minutes from the Checkpoint

#summervacay Just a short stroll or drive from JB Customs, Alley & Daisy feels like one of those rare café finds you’d stumble upon in a quiet European town. Housed in a tall shophouse, this café stretches across three storeys—with the first floor dedicated to its entrance and counter, and seating available on the second and third floors.
The moment you step in, you’re greeted by soft classical music, the scent of fresh coffee, and warm lighting that instantly soothes. The European vintage decor is thoughtfully curated—aged wooden furniture, velvet-upholstered chairs, dried florals in glass bottles, and quaint art pieces adorning the walls. Each floor has its own charm: the second floor gives you cosy café vibes with scattered seating near tall windows, while the third floor feels more secluded and homey, with hidden nooks perfect for long chats or reading breaks. It’s calm, unpretentious, and so well put together it almost feels like a film set.
We came for brunch and tried their green curry with crispy fried chicken, which was hearty, flavourful, and comforting—spicy enough to satisfy, but balanced and fragrant. The fried chicken toast with poached egg was equally delicious, with a thick-cut toast base, juicy chicken, and a perfectly runny egg that pulled everything together.
To drink, we had the creamy matcha—smooth, lightly grassy, and mellow—and the Midsummer, a refreshing pear and ume plum drink that was subtly sweet and tangy, almost like a fruit spritzer with a delicate Japanese twist.
Whether you’re dropping by after crossing the border or planning a JB café-hopping day, Alley & Daisy offers that rare mix of aesthetic charm and genuinely good food. A quiet gem that feels like a mini escape from the bustle of the city.
