The Shoko Shuseikan Museum, adjacent to Sengan-en Garden in Kagoshima City, is a valuable museum that conveys the history of the Satsuma Domain's modernization. 🏛️
I stopped by after a stroll through Sengan-en Garden, and was amazed by the exhibits I saw there.
Learning that the Satsuma Domain was one of the first to adopt Western technology, engaged in ironworks, shipbuilding, glassmaking, and more, I was once again deeply impressed by their advanced technology. ✨
The museum is housed in a Meiji-era stone building, with a dignified yet calm atmosphere.
The exhibits were easy to understand, and even those with no history background could enjoy the content.
There are also materials related to Saigo Takamori and Shimazu Nariakira, making it a must-see for fans of the late Edo period!
Enjoy a leisurely study session on your own, or enjoy a historical discussion with your partner.
The Shoko Shuseikan Museum is a place to deepen your intellectual journey through Kagoshima. 📚
[Access]
Approximately 15 minutes by car from Kagoshima Chuo Station. 🚗
Get off at the city bus stop "Sengan-en-mae."
We recommend combining this visit with Sengan-en Garden.
