[💞Kamikochi Guide]
Kamikochi, located in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, sits at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters and is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park. This hidden mountain retreat has been designated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and a Special Natural Monument by the Japanese government for its stunning natural beauty.
🏔️ Mountain Hours
To protect this precious natural environment, Kamikochi has strict entry regulations and is only open from mid-April to mid-November. In 2025, the Kamikochi Park Line bus service begins on April 17th, followed by the opening ceremony on April 27th, and the mountain will be closed again until November 15th. During the winter, all hotels and shops are closed. Those wishing to enjoy the snowy scenery must submit a mountain entry permit and adhere to the relevant entry regulations at their own risk. For first-time visitors to Kamikochi, it is recommended to visit during opening hours to ensure a safe and comfortable trip.

🥾 Clothing Guide
- Spring (April-May): Highs range from 13°C to 16°C, with lows dropping to 2°C to 5°C. Plants begin to sprout, and wildflowers begin to bloom, making this the perfect time for strolling through the vibrant greenery. Due to the significant temperature difference between morning and evening, warm clothing is recommended.
- Early Summer (June): Autumn leaves turn darker, and rainfall increases. Rain gear, a raincoat, and a light jacket are recommended.
- Summer (July-August): Highs range from 21°C to 23°C, with lows from 13°C to 15°C. Mornings are cooler, but you'll still sweat even during daytime hikes, so long-sleeved T-shirts, hats, and other sunscreen are essential.
- Early Autumn (September): Highs gradually dip below 20°C, and nights drop to around 12°C. A windproof and fleece-lined jacket are essential.
- Autumn (October): Red and golden maple leaves paint Kamikochi like a picturesque scene. A light down jacket is recommended.
- Late Autumn & Early Winter (November): Distant mountaintops are covered in snow, and Kamikochi may even experience snowfall. Warm, windproof down jackets, scarves, gloves, and other cold-weather clothing are essential!
