[Ishikawa Prefecture] Myoryuji Temple (Ninja Temple), a ninja house with hidden mechanisms

Myoryuji Temple in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture

Also known as the "Ninja Temple," this place is just like a Karakuri mansion, with a pitfall offering box, a hidden staircase hidden in the floorboards, and a well that is said to have a secret passage to Kanazawa Castle.

It is a Nichiren sect temple associated with the Maeda family of the Kaga domain, and when it was first built, it also served as a fortress to protect against attacks from enemy forces!

The exterior is two stories, but it is actually seven stories tall, and there are more than 20 rooms and staircases, so the interior is like a maze, and it is said that once you step inside, you cannot get out.

Reservations are required, but a dedicated guide will guide you through the hall, so you can get a close-up look at the Karakuri mansion.

※Reservations are full, so please be careful. I couldn't make it 🥲

And there are dog statues here and there in the temple grounds 🐕

Three dog statues praying towards the main hall, and even a dog bathing in the hot water next to the flower water fountain...

I don't know how to describe it... but there was a sense of "healing" there that didn't seem appropriate for a ninja temple 😌
