Kenrokuen Garden, a cultural treasure in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan

Having already visited Okayama Korakuen, I made it a point to visit Kenrokuen in Kanazawa despite any challenges! Located in the heart of Kanazawa City, Kenrokuen, along with Mito Kairakuen and Okayama Korakuen, is one of Japan's three most famous gardens. Its central location makes it easily accessible by bus from Kanazawa, and there is an entrance fee, with other ticket packages available as well.

Kenrokuen spans approximately 110,000 square meters, so it's advisable to plan your route to avoid wasting time or taking unnecessary detours. It is said that a great garden should embody six qualities: spaciousness, seclusion, artificiality, antiquity, water features, and scenic views. Since Kenrokuen encompasses all six of these elements, it was named accordingly. The garden showcases different charms throughout the four seasons.

The garden makes full use of its land area, featuring a variety of flowers, plants, and trees, interspersed with pavilions, artificial hills, ponds, streams, and tea houses. It's a place worth exploring slowly and savoring in detail!

You can often see people tending to the garden, weeding, and watering, which explains why the garden is always so pleasing to the eye!
