If you travel to Kaohsiung, you must spend a day visiting Cijin Island. Cijin, formerly known as "Qihou", is a long and narrow island. Most tourists can take a ferry from Gushan Pier to Cijin, which only takes 5 minutes. The remains of the fort, located on Qihou Mountain in Cijin District, Kaohsiung, have been a Class II historic site in Taiwan since 1985. It was once a key military stronghold guarding Kaohsiung Harbor. The Qihou Battery adopts a combination of Chinese and Western designs.
