GIEN JIA - A Must-Visit French Bistro Near Kaohsiung's Formosa Boulevard Station

I had always been intrigued by the exterior of this restaurant whenever I passed by, and this time, I finally seized the opportunity to give it a try. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious interior, adorned with art pieces and an impressive selection of wines.

In addition to main courses, the restaurant also offers an afternoon tea menu, and you can simply sit at the bar to enjoy a drink. They provide a wide variety of beverages and alcoholic options. This time, we ordered two main dishes and a small appetizer. Every dish was a delightful surprise, showcasing layers of flavors. It was also my first time trying cape gooseberries paired with ham and sourdough bread—absolutely delicious!

The pasta and ham here are all homemade, which is truly impressive! The pasta had a perfect al dente texture, just the way I like it. The staff carefully introduced each dish as it was served, making the experience even more enjoyable. It's wonderful to savor high-quality French cuisine at such reasonable prices. The lemon fennel cream sauce for the pasta was particularly refreshing and unforgettable. The menu is also updated regularly.

Currently, the paintings on display are by Robert Fuerer, reflecting the owner's artistic taste. I'm curious if the artworks are rotated periodically. The restaurant also collaborates with performance groups, making it a place worth revisiting and one that leaves a lasting impression.
