Karuizawa Kumoba Pond: Beautiful Fall Maple Scenery

Karuizawa, a Japanese resort, is a must-see for viewing maple leaves at Kumoba Pond

I wanted to make good use of the Tohoku JR Pass for the last leg of my trip, so I came to the Japanese resort town of Karuizawa. I've been here once before and just went shopping at Prince Shopping Center. This time I decided to rent a bicycle and travel around Karuizawa. You can rent electric bikes at White Cat Bike at JR Karuizawa Station. This is the cheapest one, so don't go wrong. The first stop is Kumoba Pond, a popular attraction in Karuizawa. You can enjoy the red maple leaves in autumn. The calm lake reflects the blue sky and white clouds, the red and green maple trees, and the wild ducks swimming in it. The scene is truly breathtaking. And it’s not far from here. You can enjoy this picturesque scenery in about ten minutes. Walking around Yunchang Pond, you can appreciate it from different angles, especially the red leaves from a close distance. The extreme red color is fascinating. Finally, we went to Kyu-Karuizawa for dinner and shopping.
