JR Kokura Station is one of the major railway transportation hubs in Fukuoka Prefecture.
The Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kagoshima, limited express trains connecting Kyushu prefectures, and local trains that serve the area intersect here.
The monorail also runs through the station, making it a symbol of Kitakyushu.
The station building also houses hotels, shopping facilities, and supermarkets.
It is connected to the surrounding facilities by elevated tracks, making it a convenient location close to the downtown area.
There are also stand-up udon restaurants on the station platform and concourse, so you can quickly fill your stomach between train transfers.
Please note that if you are taking a limited express train heading from Oita to Hakata, or a limited express train heading from Hakata to Oita, you will need to switch seats (although some people don't mind doing this) as the direction of travel changes at Kokura Station.
As you walk around the station and its surrounding areas, you will be greeted by bronze statues of popular characters from Galaxy Express 999 😊 #Kitakyushu #Kokura #Fukuoka #Fukuoka sightseeing #Fukuoka trip #Shinkansen #JR Kyushu #Kokura Station #Kokura sightseeing #Kitakyushu sightseeing #JR West Japan
