The "stove train" is a popular winter feature in Tohoku. The stove train began operating in December 1930 when the Tsugaru Railway was fully opened. It was suspended during the war from 1944 to 1946, but resumed operation in 1947 and continues to operate to this day. The stove train currently in operation is the fourth generation passenger car, and the interior of the car is so tasteful and retro that it makes you sigh with the history. The stove train is operated by connecting several cars, and there are passenger cars without stoves and passenger cars with stoves. To ride in a passenger car with a stove, you need a ticket + A stove train ticket costs 1,000 yen and can only be purchased at the ticket gate👍
The fuel for the two Daruma stoves in each car is coal, and it's nice to see the station staff stoving the coal, so you're lucky if you get to see it🎉
