My husband and I had never ventured to the Far East before, which made our honeymoon even more memorable. We both love traveling, especially when it's luxurious, and we're thankful to have the opportunity. We stayed at The Garrya Tongsai for two weeks in February and found everything about it—the hotel, location, staff, food, spa—to be exceptional. This trip sparked our interest in the Far East and revealed many travel possibilities in the region. As a busy couple, we prefer vacations filled with relaxation, exploration, fitness, reading, and local culture, all of which The Garrya Tongsai provided, and much more... One day, I dedicated two hours to walking around the entire hotel and discovered its exceptional beauty. I enjoy walking the perimeter of hotels; it makes me feel like I've truly experienced them all. Try it... The Spa: We indulged in the hotel spa and treatments, thoroughly enjoying the serene ocean setting and treatment rooms. The staff went above and beyond to make our "time out" relaxing. We had two treatments, one by the beach and another in the woodland rooms. The hot stone massage I experienced was the best I've had anywhere in the world. The Gym: As a professional in the well-being industry and a fitness enthusiast, I appreciate a 24/7 gym when traveling (though it's not always available!). The Garrya offered a 24/7 gym, but it lacked proper ventilation, air conditioning, and up-to-date equipment and mats. We spoke to the hotel manager, Mark, about it. While it won't stop me from going due to my love for exercise, others may not feel as motivated. Improvements here would be greatly appreciated. The Food: We dined at all three restaurants and particularly enjoyed Fish Tales and Rhoy Rhoy. Breakfast was outstanding, and we loved the Thai buffet and barbecue dinners. Service was exceptional, with each staff member bringing joy, especially Jah, and Pu's morning fresh juices were uplifting. Having her in our kitchen would be a dream; her "chop chop" was refreshing. The Watersports: Canoeing and paddleboarding were available, and I enjoyed both. The staff were friendly, maintaining a clean sun-bed area. The Staff: Every staff member was delightful and accommodating. The relaxed lifestyle was inspiring. The receptionists were knowledgeable and attentive, as you'd expect from a 5-star establishment. Special thanks to Peng, Mark, Jah, Joy, and morning juice maker Pu. The Hotel Rooms: Some rooms might not suit those who can't walk far. Buggies are available, but poolside rooms are better for mobility concerns. We stayed in room 212, overlooking the ocean—a beautiful room. We'd gladly stay there again. The bath on the balcony was a daily treat, maintained with crystals and lovely bath oil by our housekeeper. Housekeeping: Housekeepers are the unsung heroes. Our housekeeper, Pink, was lovely. Over the years, we've formed humbling friendships with housekeeping staff. The Area: We explored the area, recommending the Anthong Marine/Nature Park, Fisherman’s market, and Choenmong beach (with mosquito spray). We were impressed by the ethical care at The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. We enjoyed massages outside the hotel at Fisherman’s Village with ocean views. The Anthong Marine/Nature Park offered snorkeling, relaxation, and stunning island visits. We saw whales and had a memorable VIP speedboat trip. Seeing Wat Plai Laem and its surroundings was worthwhile, though we didn't find the spiritual energy we hoped for. The area's natural beauty was more inspiring, and we went on a rainy day, which didn’t help the experience. We avoided waterfalls where elephants perform. We also recommend Krua Thai Restaurant at Choenmong beach, enjoyed twice for authentic vibes—mosquito spray is advised. Night beach walks at Choenmong were beautiful with great restaurants and bars. PK Samui Cafe was a gem discovered during our walk to Wat Plai Laem.I could continue, but I simply loved Koh Samui, plan to return, and expand my experiences there.
