Kumamoto City Tour

Kumamoto City is easily accessible from Hakata station, and can be a base for visiting Takachiho Gorge and Mount Aso. It is also very family friendly for those traveling with young kids.

1. Kumamoto Castle
Restored after the 2016 earthquake, the castle and the museum within is very much worth the visit.

A Japanese landscape garden great for photos and leisurely stroll.

1. Higo Kuromon Ichiba
Souvenir and F&B galore right at Kumamoto Station. Great for any last minute shopping before you leave.

2. Amu Plaza Kumamoto
Right beside Kumamoto Station.

3. Sakuramachi Kumamoto
Beside Kumamoto Castle and the Main Street shopping strip. Bus terminal is located within.

4. Shimotori, Kamitori shopping strip
Main Street shopping strip that is fully covered.

Transport

You can use any IC card or credit card to get around. Purchase a day pass if taking more than 3 trips a day, or use a credit card which currently caps the fee per day.
