🇯🇵Delicious food! Beautiful nature! Busy solo trip to Kumamoto! (Kumamoto Castle)🐻

By chance, I found a cheap direct flight to Kumamoto on Trip.com. It was already December and my trip to Kumamoto was approaching! I had heard that it was famous for horse meat, rice shochu, and the cute Kumamon character, but when I went there myself, I realized that there were so many more things to eat and see!

These are travel journal moments from that trip!

First, we arrived and had lunch. I heard from a friend that there was a famous tonkatsu restaurant called Katsuretsu-tei (勝烈亭), so I went there to eat. It was definitely delicious, and depending on the quality, type, and quantity of meat, the price can go up from 1,500 yen to 5,000 yen, so it was a pretty luxurious tonkatsu restaurant! There are other fried cutlets such as shrimp tempura, so I recommend looking at the menu carefully and choosing! After filling my stomach, I went out to see the sights.

The first place I went to was the famous tourist attraction Kumamoto Castle, and the nearby Kumamoto Inari Shrine and Kato Shrine. I liked that I could see the history of Kumamoto and the castle's old appearance, as well as the appearance after it collapsed due to an earthquake and the appearance after it was restored.
The shrines are similar to the shrines that you can see most, but the special part about Kato Shrine is that you can see the back of Kumamoto Castle up close.

After going around the castle, I went down and looked around the Kumamoto Castle Museum Wakuwakuza (熊本城ミュージアム わくわく座), which is full of cultural experience facilities, restaurants, dessert shops, and souvenir shops. They sold sea urchin, steamed buns, and manju on the street, which were popular among the visiting students. I tried sea urchin and the famous Kumamoto mustard root (karashi rengen). It was a unique taste that might be a bit off-putting, but I personally enjoyed it!

After being busy in the morning, I took a quick rest at the hotel in the afternoon and studied hard about where to go for dinner. I will post that story in the next moment. If you want to know more about various bars, I recommend watching the next episode!!
