Introducing Baiyi Law Courts

Baiyi Luyuan, also known as Baiyi Nunnery, is located on the west end of Jiaotong Road in Bozhou City . It is named after the White-robed Bodhisattva Guanyin, enshrined there . Founded in 1649 by the monk Jinxiu, the Baiyi Luyuan was later expanded by the monk Miaozhan from Mount Hua, the blind monk Desheng from Mount Wutai, and the Shanxi medicine merchant Dong Jiwen, resulting in a grand scale and majestic architecture.

In commemoration of the blind monk Desheng and the medicine merchant Dong Jiwen, the gate of Baiyi Luyuan, contrary to custom, faces northwest, toward Shanxi. The four characters " Baiyi Luyuan " (Baiyi Luyuan) on the gate stone plaque were inscribed by the renowned Qianlong-era calligrapher Deng Shiru.

The current Baiyi Vinaya Monastery was built with donations from Mr. Tang Deyin, a native of Bo, Hong Kong. The main gate, with its three bays and double-eaved hip roof and glazed tile roof, is flanked by statues of the Four Great Vajras. The main building is the five- bay Main Hall, housing a wooden statue of the White-robed Bodhisattva Guanyin. The rear hall, located on the north side of the courtyard, also has five bays and over 50 auxiliary rooms and comprehensive religious facilities.
