- Kumamoto Castle -
This is another must-see if you're visiting Fukuoka.

We traveled from Hakata by Shinkansen to Kumamoto Station. It took only 30 minutes (using the JR Northern Kyushu Pass). Upon arrival, we purchased a one-day tram pass at the information center to take the A-Line Kumamoto Tram to Kumamoto Castle/City Hall Station. (I highly recommend taking the tram; it's incredibly charming and charming. Kumamoto is primarily used by trams and buses.)

Then, we walked to the castle itself. If you want to explore the castle, the entrance fee is 800 yen. Inside, there are fascinating exhibits detailing its history.

The castle's exterior is stunning, having been rebuilt after the 2016 earthquake. If you visit during the fall foliage season, you can take photos with the ginkgo trees next to the castle.
