Kumamoto Castle

Kumamoto Castle is the symbol of Kumamoto City. In ancient times, the Ideta clan was the first ruler of the castle. It changed hands repeatedly until the Osokawa clan took control, and the castle was completed. Since the abolition of the Sina clan in Japan, the castle has been under the control of the Japanese government. Kumamoto Castle suffered severe damage in the 2016 earthquake, and the government has restored it to its original condition. Although the castle remains damaged, it still welcomes numerous visitors every year. The castle's formidable black exterior and its fortified walls make it impenetrable to enemies. For those who enjoy castles, this is a highly recommended destination.

To get there, you can get off at Kumamoto Station and walk to the castle, or take the tram from JR Kumamoto Station to the castle.
