✨️Yuantong Temple is the largest and oldest Buddhist temple in Kunming, Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China.

✨️Built during the Tang Dynasty, it has been around for over 1,200 years and is the center of three sects of Buddhism.

✨️Unlike most Chinese temples, which are built on mountains, this temple is built lower than the mountain, as it was once home to a shrine to the Goddess of Mercy⛩️.

✨️The architecture blends Thai, Lanna, Burmese, and Sino-Tibetan styles.

✨️The temple features an octagonal pavilion in the middle of a pond, housing a thousand-handed Guanyin and a Burmese Guanyin.

✨️This temple also maintains a close relationship with Thailand, with a replica of the Phra Buddha Chinnarat Buddha brought from Thailand to the temple to foster friendly relations between the two countries.
