Kinkaku-ji Temple or Golden Temple

Kinkakuji Temple (金閣寺/Kinkakuji) or Thais are familiar with the name "Golden Temple" according to the meaning of the Japanese name because there is a golden Kinkakuji Castle (Golden Pavilion) that is outstandingly beautiful in the art of Japanese construction. This temple has an official name of Rokuon-ji Temple (鹿苑寺/Rokuon-ji), which means the deer garden temple.

This temple is very old. It was built in 1397 to be the residence of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. It is a three-story wooden building, 12.5 meters high, used as a place to welcome important guests. Later, it became the current temple. And with its magnificent beauty, it became the prototype of Gingakuji Temple or Silver Temple that was built later.
