Kyoto, Japan - Famous place to enjoy autumn leaves in the ancient temple pond: Eikan-do

#Eikando is a famous place for viewing maple leaves in Kyoto. After visiting #Nanzenji, the next must-go place is also the starting point of the southern end of #Philosopher's Path. The beauty of Eikan-do lies in the layers of maple leaves, with the solemn ancient temple, wooden corridors, and the release pond as the background. The pond water reflects the stone bridge, maple forest and ancient temple, which is quite Zen. The red leaves photographed here are very artistic.
When I first visited Eikan-do, it was the autumn leaf season, and the intoxicating red maple leaves were so beautiful that they were beyond description. At that time, the park was open at night for viewing the night maple leaves. The red leaves and the pond view under the lights were so beautiful that they looked like a painting.
This time I visited Eikan-do again. I was still hesitant about whether to pay to enter since it was not the autumn leaves season. Fortunately, I went in. The newly green Eikan-do was just as charming. Although I have photographed many newly green gardens, the pond and corridor garden with a lake as a backdrop is particularly charming.
Eikan-do, also known as #Zenrin-ji, was a gift from nobles to monks during the Heian period. It is the head temple of the Seishan Zenrin-ji sect of the Pure Land Buddhism. The mountain is called "Shengzhonglaiyingshan" and the temple is called "Muraishuin". It is a famous place for autumn leaves in Kyoto and has been known as the #RedLeavesEikan-do since ancient times. There are more than 3,000 maple trees inside. In mid-November, when the maple leaves are in full bloom, the entire Eikan-do Hall is painted in bright red autumn colors, which is quite spectacular!
Come to think of it, Eikan-do is quite good at doing business. If you visit during normal seasons, the ticket price is 600 yuan; if you visit during the maple season, the ticket price is 1,000 yuan; and if you visit at night when the lights are on, the ticket price is 600 yuan. But it is really worth it. The beautiful red maple leaves here are definitely one of the best in Kyoto, and they are super beautiful to take pictures.
