Samurai Secrets: A Journey Through Nijo Castle

This is my favourite castle among all the castles I visited in Japan so far. Nijo Castle in Kyoto is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is a stunning example of feudal-era architecture. A must-visit for history enthusiasts.

Getting There - You can get there via local train.

Highlights - This castle was built in 1600s as the castle of Tokugawa Ieyasu, first shogun of the Edo period. The castle has the most beautiful gardens, intricate interiors. The most famous feature is the "nightingale floors", which "chirps" or creaks when stepped on, orginally meant to warn against intruders. The beautiful castle offers a glimpse into Japan's samurai history and culture.
