A Temple Built a Thousand Year Ago

Kiyomizu-dera temple located in Kyoto is a popular place of worship for the locals. It is considered a very holy place by buddhist Japanese. In fact, locals outside of Tokyo would intend to visit the temple to offer prayers of thanksgiving.

The temple really exudes tranquility and peace one reason perhaps is that it sits on a mountain.

So from the bus stop you have to walk your way up for 15-20 minutes to get to the temple. But worry less since the road is paved with concrete (I guess). And along are shops, restaurants, and cafes. Make sure to try their matcha soft cream. We even got a complimentary green tea. 😊

When at the temple please pay respect by minimizing your voice and not rushing to just pass through it.
