Nijo Castle was built in 1603 and has a history of more than 400 years. The first shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu stayed in Nijo Castle every time he came to Kyoto. It is a historical witness of an era!
The scenery of Nijo Castle is very beautiful. What impressed me most were the observation deck and the Oriole Corridor of Ninomaru Palace. The observation tower offers a panoramic view of the city scenery from a high altitude, and the Yellow Oriole Corridor will emit a sound similar to the chirping of a yellow oriole when people walk in, reminding people indoors that someone is approaching and raising their alertness.
There is a beautiful teahouse in Nijo Castle, but I was unable to try it because it closed early. I would like to sit and relax and enjoy the garden view if I have the chance.
Nijo Castle covers a vast area and it takes about 2 hours to explore it in detail. Please allow enough time.
