Kyoto National Museum until June 15! A must-see collection of masterpieces!

I visited Kyoto 🤩
The special exhibition "The Crucible of Japanese Beauty" at the Kyoto National Museum is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the finest works of Japanese art all at once!

Although the ticket price is 2,000 yen, which is a bit pricey, you won't regret it as you can view famous pieces 🥰

Among the highlights is Tawaraya Sōtatsu's "Wind God and Thunder God Screens." The dynamic depiction of the Wind God and Thunder God dancing on a golden background is breathtaking every time you see it! The form most people imagine when they think of the Wind God and Thunder God is undoubtedly this one.

Additionally, representative works from Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" are on display, drawing you in with their stunning composition and exquisite use of color. This is a rare chance to see the essence of Japanese ukiyo-e, which is highly regarded worldwide, up close 🥰

Since the exhibition is nearing its end, expect crowds. Despite this, it's absolutely worth visiting. I went on a Sunday in June, and it was quite crowded!

History, beauty, impact—everything about this exhibition is top-notch. It truly lives up to its name as a "crucible."

If you're interested, make sure to go soon. You might regret missing it!

For the first time, I was able to see Hokusai's most famous wave, and it was deeply moving 😇 Having visited over 200 art museums worldwide, I often feel that Hokusai is the most famous Japanese artist internationally. Don't miss this chance!

Also, for those planning to visit Kyoto along with the Osaka Expo, I hope this serves as a helpful reference 🙆♀️
