[Kyoto] Heian Shrine, famous for its large torii gate

Heian Shrine in Kyoto City was built in 1895 by local citizens to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the capital's relocation and to promote the town.

The shrine building is modeled after the Chodoin, the main hall of the Daidairi in Heian-kyo, and is 5/8 scale.

The large torii gate, 24m high and 18m wide, is also a must-see!

On October 22nd, the Jidai Matsuri, one of Kyoto's three major festivals, will be held, where about 2,000 citizens will parade in costumes from 1,000 years of ethnic customs.
