Fushimi Inari is a Shinto shrine with over 1,300 years of history and is dedicated to the god Inari (Inari Ōkami) — the god of rice, fertility, and good fortune in business.
Its most striking feature is the “Ten Thousand Red Torii Gates” (Senbon Torii 千本鳥居), which line a long tunnel up Mt. Inari. They have become a symbol of Kyoto and Japan around the world. 🌸

• 🚆 JR Nara Line → Get off at Inari Station (only 5 minutes!)
→ Walk less than a minute to the shrine entrance.

Around the entrance are local street foods, such as:
• Inari Sushi (fried tofu rice rolls), a favorite food of the god Inari
• Grilled Mochi / Dango (grilled mochi on a stick)
• Matcha / Uji green tea
• Grilled squid, grilled chicken on a stick, grilled quail eggs
💡 Precautions
• The ascent is steep and has some steep sections. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
• If climbing in the evening It's best to return before dark, as the path is very quiet and dark.
• Never climb or lean on the torii gates.
