Fushimi Inari Shrine is a very famous shrine in Kyoto and a must-see for many visitors to Japan. Its most distinctive feature is the row of bright red torii gates, lined one after another along the mountain path. Walking inside truly feels like stepping back in time – incredibly dreamy and perfect for photos!
This shrine is dedicated to the Inari God, whose main purpose is to bless business and a good harvest, so many businesspeople come to pay their respects. You'll also find fox statues scattered throughout the shrine, as foxes are considered messengers of the Inari God. Besides paying homage, you can also enjoy a leisurely hike up Inariyama, passing many small shrines and teahouses along the way, enjoying the scenic views.
If you come in the morning, the torii gate tunnels are less crowded, making for even better photo opportunities! Overall, Fushimi Inari is a place that blends nature, culture, and faith. It's not just about praying, but also about taking a short trip full of Kyoto charm – it's well worth a visit!
