🇧🇴Bolivia🌙🌄 [Valley of the Moon] A lunar-like world on the outskirts of La Paz

Located about 10km southwest of central La Paz, the Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna) is a group of strangely shaped rocks formed by years of erosion by wind and rain.

Its rugged, lunar-like landscape makes it a popular tourist spot. 😌

•This area was once a mountain, but now consists of clay and sandstone. Erosion over time and natural forces has created spires and canyons.
•Due to differences in the mineral content of the soil, the color varies from part to part. From light beige to red and dark purple, the subtle contrasts reflected on the rocks create a mystical impression.

🚶♀️ Access and Travel Time
Transportation: Take a colectivo (shared van) from the Plaza San Francisco area in central La Paz to "Mallasa" (approximately 40 minutes, 3 bolivianos one way). Alternatively, take a taxi for approximately 30 minutes (30-40 bolivianos).

Sightseeing Time: There are two options: a short route (approximately 45 minutes to an hour) and a longer route (approximately 45 minutes to an hour) that continues all the way to Devil's Point. To enjoy both routes, the total time is about an hour and a half.

🎫Admission Fee
As of 2025, it's 20 bolivianos.

Despite being located near the city, you can experience a worldview reminiscent of planetary exploration. A half-day visit makes it easy to incorporate into your schedule while in La Paz.
