Visiting the Leshan Giant Buddha isn't as crowded as you might think. Try starting early... like 7.30am early. And make it a weekday.
🚅🚗 How to get around:
1️⃣ Choose one of the first few high-speed trains to Leshan station from Chengdu, which operates from 6am+. No worries on booking these tickets too early as there will likely be some seats left for these timings. The ride takes an hour.
2️⃣ Then, take a Didi from Leshan station. Follow the exit signs to the e-hailing waiting area which is a floor down at a dimly-lit carpark. It should cost roughly 30 yuan at 7am+ in the morning. Pin the North Gate entrance of Leshan Giant Buddha as your starting point. The kind folks and shopkeepers around will point you to the entrance... as well as their breakfast menu.
3️⃣ Ensure you have the entrance tickets. Roughly 77 yuan on Trip.com. Lastly, do some light stretching before a punishing climb on a number of stairs. No one said getting to "heaven" and meeting the Giant Buddha was easy... Be mentally prepped for the walk back down too. No pain, no gain.
