Lijiang is a city I never tire of visiting.
I've traveled to China many times, but of all the Chinese cities, I'd say Lijiang is the best. In 2017, I first visited Lijiang alone. The Tea Horse Road was featured on a TV show, and after seeing it, I felt a sense of emptiness and decided to pack my backpack and head there.
There are many beautiful inns under the blue sky, the air is fresh, and the natural scenery is beautiful. I enjoyed ordering a cup of tea at a live cafe with a great view inside the old town, listening to the gentle breeze and music, and gazing blankly at the Meixue Mountain before me.
How to get to Lijiang
You need to depart from Incheon Airport and transit through one of the Chinese cities. As far as I know, there aren't any direct flights yet.
✈️ Round-trip flight: ₩270,000
This time, I flew from Gimpo International Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, connecting after 18 hours.
Some people find transit a disadvantage, but others find it an advantage. I chose the advantage: it was cheaper and allowed me to visit one more city. That's why I chose the option with a longer transit time. 😃
When I went to Lijiang in the past, I departed from Incheon Airport, arrived at Kunming Airport, and usually took the overnight train. It took about 10 hours, and I remember purchasing a four-person sleeper car and buying beer and snacks to eat on the train. I remember arriving in Lijiang at 7 a.m.
I highly recommend Lijiang 👍
