เมืองโบราณลี่เจียง (Lijiang Old Town)

Lijiang Old Town

Also known to the Chinese as "Lijiang Gucheng," it was built during the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, around the 13th century, as a trading post along the Tea-Horse Route. The old town features wooden houses and shops in the Chinese Naxi style, and is so well preserved that it's been nicknamed the "Venice of the East." Located in northwestern Yunnan Province, Lijiang Old Town is over 800 years old. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and is a top AAAAA tourist attraction in China.

The old town, which spans approximately 3.8 square kilometers, features over 300 small bridges for pedestrian crossings across streams and canals. The alleys are lined with numerous hotels, shops, and restaurants. It's easy to get lost walking around.
