Kayah – The Land of Peace, Pagodas & Hidden Beauty 🇲🇲✨

Traveling to Kayah State, Myanmar was one of the most peaceful and soul-touching journeys I’ve ever experienced. Looking back now, I’m so grateful we got to see this hidden gem—because with the current situation in Myanmar, we honestly don’t know when we’ll be able to return. 💔
📍We stayed at a hotel right by Naung Yar Lake and waking up to that calm, misty view every morning was something I’ll never forget. The lake was absolutely magical during sunrise and golden hour. 🌅🌊
One of the first stops we made was this stunning hilltop pagoda (📸 in the cover). Built into a rocky cliff, it has layers of small shrines, Buddha images, and winding stairs leading you all the way to the top. Every level felt like a blessing in itself. It’s lesser known, but so beautiful and photogenic from every angle. ⛩️✨
But the real star of Kayah is the famous Taung Kwe Pagoda, also known as the Broken Mountain Pagoda. It’s built on a cluster of limestone outcrops right in the heart of Loikaw. You climb through stairs and bridges connecting each peak—every viewpoint gives a 360° panorama of the city, the lake, and the surrounding hills. I went up at sunset, and the view was breathtaking. 🌄⛅
This trip wasn’t just sightseeing—it was connecting. With people, with silence, with our own roots. Kayah has a calmness that stays with you, even long after you’ve left.
Now, all we can do is hold these memories close and hope that one day, peace will return—and we’ll be able to go back to this beautiful place once again. 🕊️💛
