🌨️Who would have thought! After it snows on Mount Lu, it transforms into a real-life Frozen, with red-roofed villas covered in "cream snow," and rime hanging on branches so beautiful it takes your breath away. Southern friends don’t need to rush to the Northeast to fulfill their dream✨
⏰Best viewing period
December to February is the peak snow season, with the first snow usually in mid to late December. It’s recommended to go on a sunny day after a cold wave; snow scenery plus sunshine makes for amazing photos. The snow melts quickly, so don’t wait a week to go. Check the weather forecast for Guling Town—it’s much more accurate than the overall Mount Lu forecast!
đźš—Transportation tips
âś…High-speed rail to Lushan Station: 10 RMB shuttle bus to the cableway entrance, or 20 RMB carpool for faster travel
✅Cableway round trip 120 RMB: 10 minutes straight to the summit, with a bird’s-eye view of the snowy forest (arrive early during snow season to avoid long lines)
âś…Must-buy sightseeing bus 90 RMB: Attractions are very spread out, unlimited rides with the ticket is a great deal
⚠️No driving up the mountain on snowy days; park at the North or South Gate parking lots for 10 RMB/day
🏨Accommodation recommendations
Stay in Guling Street for convenience! Recommended local guesthouses (with floor heating + terrace snow views) or Shuguangwei Hotel (floor-to-ceiling window snow view rooms). Book early during peak season; last-minute bookings can be double the price. The town has KFC and convenience stores, and prices are very reasonable~
📝2-day itinerary
Day 1: Cableway up the mountain → drop off luggage → Flower Path (red pavilion with white snow is poetic) → Ruqin Lake (frozen lake looks like a fairy tale) → Xianren Cave (encounter gentle macaques) → Little Tianchi to catch the sunset → evening stroll on Guling Street, the blue hour night view is amazing
Day 2: Early morning at Hanpoukou (sea of clouds + snow scenery in one frame!) → Jinxiu Valley (ice-covered canyon is stunning) → Sandie Spring (winter ice waterfall is very special) → return trip
🧥Essentials checklist
▪️Clothing: bright-colored down jacket + thick sweater + fleece-lined pants (photos look great)
▪️Shoes: anti-slip snow boots + crampons! The roads are very slippery, must bring
▪️Extras: sunglasses (to prevent snow glare), waterproof gloves, insulated cup
📝Tips to note:
1. The 160 RMB ticket is valid for 7 days; staying one night is enough to explore the core attractions
2. Must-try foods: Lushan stone chicken, stone fish with egg explosion; Guling Street dining averages 60 RMB per person to eat until full
3. Central Park and Cloud Viewing Pavilion are prime photo spots; villa snow scenes are perfect for photos
Every step on snowy Mount Lu is a surprise, and the "crunch" sound of stepping on snow is so soothing~ Quickly grab a buddy and go!
