In the cool morning light, I came to the Macau Maritime Museum in Macau's Inner Harbour. This museum records Macau's maritime history and maritime culture for hundreds of years. The museum displays exquisite ancient ship models, nautical charts and navigation instruments, recreating the glorious journey of the Portuguese voyages to Asia in the past. I stood in front of the huge glass window, looking at the fishing boats and cargo ships passing by on the sea, thinking about how this city prospered because of the sea and how it became a bridge for the intersection of Eastern and Western cultures.
After leaving the museum, I walked to the A-Ma Temple not far away. This ancient temple with hundreds of years of history is one of the most important Taoist holy sites in Macau. The temple is built against the mountain, with red walls and green tiles, towering ancient trees and the air filled with smoke from incense. I climbed the stairs, admired the wood and stone carvings in the temple, and felt the faith and tradition of this city. Standing on the platform in front of the temple, overlooking the Inner Harbor of Macau, the sea breeze brings a light salty taste, as if still telling the history and vicissitudes of this port city.
