Introducing a day in Machida, where you can experience a retro vibe and nature even though it's Tokyo!
These are places you can enjoy even on cloudy or rainy days, so please use this as a reference~
① Buso-so (Photos 1–3)
A traditional Japanese house where the Shirazu couple lived after the war.
It’s now like a museum, with a beautifully thatched roof house that lets you feel the history.
For 1,500 yen, you can tour the house and garden and get a glimpse of the Shirazu couple’s former lifestyle.
It’s a perfect spot for those who love a retro and stylish atmosphere!
It’s easy to drop by on weekends, so if you’re tired of the city, I definitely recommend visiting~
② Restaurant & Cafe Buso-so (Photo 4)
A retro cafe next to Buso-so.
The interior has a stylish vibe, and it’s a must-visit cafe for those who come to Buso-so.
I had the shrimp seafood doria.
It was a bit chilly on a rainy day, so a warm meal was perfect 😚
They also seem to offer dinner courses, which use seasonal ingredients.
Be sure to check it out!
③ Machida Yakushiike Park
After enjoying the morning and lunch at Buso-so, take a bus about 30 minutes to Machida Yakushiike Park.
It’s a spacious park where you can enjoy nature throughout the seasons, a relaxing spot for locals.
Inside the park, there are many places to stop and relax, including historic buildings and tea houses.
There’s a lovely bridge over Yakushi Pond, and in autumn, the area turns orange, with beautiful illuminated night views to enjoy 🧡
Events are held depending on the season, so you can enjoy different experiences all year round.
It’s also a perfect place for a weekend stroll to get some light exercise.
Machida has many quiet spots perfect for healing from weekday work or school fatigue.
Please give it a visit~
