Travel itinerary for 2 days and 1 night exploring Chiang Dao and Suan Son Bor Kaew
Day 1: Explore Chiang Dao, immerse in nature, and stay overnight⛰️
• Early morning: Depart from Chiang Mai city to Chiang Dao, approximately a 1.5-hour drive.
• Late morning: Stop by Wat Pa Dara Phirom (Mae Rim District), conveniently located along the route to Chiang Dao. This temple features beautiful and serene architecture, perfect for making merit and taking photos.
• Noon: Upon arrival in Chiang Dao, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
• Afternoon: Visit flower gardens in Chiang Dao, mostly located in the Ban Rabiang Dao area, also known as Upper Chiang Dao. Popular gardens include Uncle Wang's Garden or Aunt Wang's Flower Garden, showcasing Verbena flowers and other winter blooms for stunning photo opportunities.
• Evening: Check into your accommodation and set up a tent for an overnight stay in Chiang Dao. Recommended places for camping near flower gardens include Ban Rabiang Dao or Doi Luang Chiang Dao, which offer various camping spots.
Day 2: Visit Suan Son Bor Kaew and Wat Den Sali Si Muang Gan🙏🏻
• Morning: Wake up to fresh air and enjoy the morning view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao, the most picturesque time of the day.
• Late morning: Depart from your accommodation to Suan Son Bor Kaew, located in Hod District. This route heads in the opposite direction of Chiang Dao but offers a scenic and shaded drive, taking about 2 hours.
• Afternoon: After exploring Suan Son Bor Kaew, return to Chiang Mai. On the way, stop by Wat Den Sali Si Muang Gan (Mae Taeng District), a temple renowned for its exquisite Lanna-style architecture.
• Evening: Safely return to Chiang Mai city.
Additional Tips:
• The best time to visit Chiang Dao is during the winter season (November - January) when the weather is cool and comfortable, and winter flowers are in full bloom.
