Finally saw the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon from my elementary school textbook with my own eyes! This pure land in Milin, Nyingchi, Tibet is truly breathtaking. The painting woven by snow-capped mountains, canyons, and rivers is a blockbuster-level scene no matter how you snap it 🏔️
【Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon Travel Guide】
📍Address: Paizhen, Milin City, Nyingchi, Tibet
⏰Opening Hours: March to October 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM; November to February 9:30 AM - 8:00 PM
🎫Ticket Price: 150 RMB
The feeling of standing on the canyon viewing platform for the first time is indescribable! The rushing river flows between the 1600-meter-high canyon walls on both sides, and the distant Namcha Barwa Peak is shrouded in mist, like a dynamic ink painting. Remember to arrive at the viewing platform before 9 AM to see the most beautiful morning mist scenery ☁️
There are 3 main viewing spots in the canyon:
1️⃣ Grand Canyon Viewing Platform: Best spot for panoramic photos
2️⃣ Waterside Platform: Experience the power of the Yarlung Tsangpo River up close
3️⃣ Namcha Barwa Viewing Platform: Best place to gaze at the sacred mountain
🌟Travel Tips:
- It’s recommended to spend 2 days to fully enjoy; sightseeing buses are needed to tour the grand canyon area
- The best season is April to June when the snow melts and the canyon is lush and green
- At 2900 meters altitude, be sure to protect yourself from sun and cold; bring sunglasses and sunscreen
- There are limited dining options inside the scenic area, so bring some snacks
When in Milin, be sure to try the local stone pot chicken! Cooked in the local Metok stone pot, the chicken is tender and the broth rich. We recommend the "Lulang Stone Pot Chicken Main Store," located near the scenic area.
