Guangdong's "Hidden Island Getaway": Fewer Crowds, Stunning Scenery, and Affordable Hotels with Great Value

This trip to Guangdong's islands not only allowed me to visit several beautiful, lesser-known hidden gems in Zhanjiang, but also led me to discover Maoming's very own "Golden Coast" – the low-key yet treasure-filled coastline known as [Romantic Coast]. This place is undoubtedly one of Guangdong's best-kept vacation secrets. With a stretch of resort hotels along the shore, the beaches are pristine, and there's even a photogenic little chapel for Instagram-worthy shots. Come and explore it soon!

【Transportation】
This is a pure resort area, so public transportation is limited. It's about a 4-hour drive from Guangzhou, or you can take a high-speed train to Maoming Station and then a 30-minute taxi ride. Don't worry about leaving—taxis are easy to find here, as confirmed by experience.

【Accommodation Guide】
The two best hotels at Romantic Coast are the [Wyndham Maoming Romantic Coast Hotel] and the [Sheraton Maoming Romantic Coast Resort]. Both feature stunning infinity pools with prime oceanfront locations and modern room facilities. The best part? It's quiet and uncrowded, so you can choose either based on preference. The shared amenities—like the coconut grove and beach—are the same, with little difference beyond the rooms. The resort gardens are full of picturesque spots, giving off strong Southeast Asian island resort vibes.

【Seaside Chapels】
There are two chapels. One is near an abandoned ship, offering a perfect photo backdrop with the blue sea. Notably, this chapel is authorized by the local civil affairs bureau for marriage registration—so you can literally get your marriage certificate while on vacation. How incredibly romantic is that? The other chapel is in the middle of the Wyndham Hotel's pool, also a great spot for photos.

【Private Beach】
Romantic Coast boasts a several-kilometer-long beach with fine sand, gentle waves, and a flat shoreline, making it ideal for water activities. You can try jet skiing, sailing, hoverboarding, and more in the sea, or enjoy beach volleyball, swings, and ATVs on the sand. There's plenty to explore at your own pace.

Rows of coconut trees line the beachside pathways, and a casual stroll through the grove feels like stepping into a movie scene.

【Dining Experience】
Beyond the hotel buffets, my favorite spot is the "Romantic Fishing Village Restaurant." Here, you can order fresh seafood, served quickly and deliciously. The best part? The restaurant is nestled under the coconut trees, right by the beach and ocean, offering a delightful dining experience with a view.
