Matsu | Explore the Sea from the Tunnels: The Unique "Dahan Stronghold"

The Dahan Stronghold is located right next to the Beihai Tunnel, but the experience here is completely different. This site features a three-level tunnel system that extends downward along the mountainside. Walking through it feels like an adventure, with surprises waiting at every corner!

One thing to note is that the tunnels have many steep stairs, so going up and down can be a bit tiring. If you have knee issues, take it slow. Also, the tunnels are quite dark and damp, so be cautious of slippery surfaces while walking.

🌊 Atmosphere/Facilities:
The coolest feature of the Dahan Stronghold is that each firing port acts like a natural picture frame, showcasing stunning ocean views! You can look out from different gun ports, and each angle offers a unique and picturesque scene, perfect for photography.

As you walk through the main tunnel, you can clearly see the marks left by the soldiers who carved it out, a testament to their incredible perseverance. The lowest level of the tunnel is very close to sea level, where you can feel the waves crashing right at your feet. The sound is breathtaking, and the view is spectacular!

In the summer, this place is wonderfully cool, like a natural air-conditioned room, making it a great spot to escape the heat.

💰 Admission Information:
Entrance Fee: Free of charge.

🚗 Parking Information:
There is a parking lot right outside the visitor center near the stronghold entrance, making it very convenient.

⚠️ Tips:

This itinerary ensures a smooth and enjoyable trip!
