The Midnight Express to Malacca, a city brimming with exotic charm.

Malacca is famous for being visited by Kotaro Sawaki on his backpacking journey. I too, happened to visit this city during my own budget travels after quitting my job.
As a trading hub for East-West commerce, Malacca has been home to merchants from various countries. The city flourished especially after the establishment of the Malacca Sultanate in the 14th century, which saw a boom in the spice trade. However, from the 16th century onwards, it came under the rule of Western powers such as Portugal, the Netherlands, and Britain.
Due to its rich history, not only has architecture developed, but also a variety of religious facilities and food culture. The cuisine, particularly that of the Chinese community, is very palatable to Japanese tastes, and I think you will enjoy it. The noodle dish in the first photo was delicious, so I recommend it.
Restaurant Name: DeXingLung Kopitiam
Moreover, the sunsets over the Strait of Malacca are very large and deeply red. It can be quite a challenge to find a photo spot that is freely accessible, but try looking for places other than the coast where you can see the sunset. At the spot I found, the sight of the large sun sinking, with the trees in the foreground turning black and the water surface tinting a deep orange, was truly magnificent.
