Melbourne was the most artistic and sophisticated city in Australia. Flinders Street Station, which I first encountered, showed the charm of the city well with its old buildings and modern architecture of Federation Square.
Entering the alley, a completely different world unfolded. The street art filled Hosier Lane was a huge gallery in itself, and there were small cafes hidden in each alley, so I spent some leisurely time having a cup of coffee. There was a reason why Melbourne is called the ‘City of Coffee’.
The State Library of Victoria was impressive with its magnificent dome-shaped reading room, and the Melbourne Museum allowed me to see the city’s history and culture at a glance. I took a little more time to walk along the Yarra River, and I was able to feel nature and leisure even in the city.
In the evening, I finished the day by watching the sunset at St. Kilda Beach. Melbourne is a city where art, culture, and everyday leisure coexist, so it was an enjoyable trip just by walking.
