Day 10 The Basilica of Saint Mary, America's first Basilica
That day I went to the Sculpture Park (just on the other side not far from the Sculpture Park), but missed the opening hours of St. Mary's Basilica so I made a special trip to visit again today.
The sanctuary of St. Mary's is seen in the distance.
The temple was built in 1871 and was the first religious temple in the United States. It is included in the National Preservation List of Historic Buildings.
When I walked into the temple, I heard someone reciting the scriptures. Several believers are praying. The design of the temple was designed by the American-French designer of St. Paul's Cathedral (St. Paul). The design style is very similar from the dome of the sanctuary to the side frescoes. The design of the glazed painting coupled with the shadows of the spotlights makes it look both solemn and atmospheric. The temple can accommodate many believers, the pews are donated by different people, and the donation list writes who donated each line of the pews.
This temple is similar to St. Paul's Cathedral in both appearance and internal design, and also in Minnesota, you can visit two historic Catholic churches at once ⛪️ worth this trip to the United States 👍
