Wandering through the autumn foliage of Mount Minoh in Japan, discovering the hidden gem of Ryuanji Temple.

Mount Minoh in Japan during autumn is like a magnificent painting, and the hidden Ryuanji Temple in the mountains is a perfect spot for viewing the maple leaves. This historic temple, with its path lined with fiery red and golden leaves, feels like a dreamy autumn journey.

Starting from Minoh Station, I walked for about 30 minutes along a mountain path that felt like a tunnel of maple leaves to reach Ryuanji Temple. The temple, nestled by a stream and blending into the valley, features a vermilion main hall that contrasts beautifully with the red maple leaves, creating a breathtaking scene. Especially the Benzaiten Bridge, reflecting on the water and surrounded by maple leaves, looks like a postcard in every photo.

Founded in the Nara period (728 AD), Ryuanji Temple is one of the well-known training grounds in Kansai and is famous for enshrining Benzaiten, attracting many worshippers each year to pray for wealth and wisdom. Here, you can not only enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves but also experience the tranquility of this ancient temple.
