The Daode Zhonggong, also known as the Laozu Temple, is located on Laozidian Street in Bozhou City . Originally built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, it commemorates Laozi. Also known as the " Laozu Temple " or " Laozi Palace , " it houses stone carvings of the Laozi Daodejing and displays related documents.
In front of the palace is Wenli Lane, which is said to be the place where Confucius asked Laozi about etiquette. During the Song Dynasty, there were three Laozi temples on the banks of the Wohe River: Taiqingguan in Luyi County, Henan Province, Daodezhong Palace in Bozhou City, and Tianjing Palace in the north of Woyang City.
There are three mountain gates , each inscribed with the Chinese characters " Daode Zhonggong " . The central hall is dedicated to the ancestors, while the rear hall is dedicated to Laozi, with a 3.1- meter-tall statue of him. The east courtyard has three halls dedicated to Lu Ban, with the gate inscribed with " Purple Air Coming from the East " . The west courtyard has three halls dedicated to the God of Wealth , with the gate inscribed with " Green Ox Crossing the West " .
