The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka was founded by the famous Japanese animation director Hayao Miyazaki in 2001. It is located in a forest in Mitaka City, Tokyo. The design of the museum is inspired by the films of Hayao Miyazaki, and the works of Miyazaki and his studio Studio Ghibli are displayed inside, including the animated films "My Neighbor Totoro", "Spirited Away", "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" and so on. The museum displays Studio Ghibli's production process, manuscripts, design sketches, animation clips, and interactive exhibitions, allowing people to gain an in-depth understanding of the animation production process and technology as well as Studio Ghibli's creative process. 💻Ticket Purchase Method

1. Book your e-ticket on the museum's official website.
- Ticket pre-orders for the following month will be open at 10:00 a.m. Japan time on the 10th of each month


-You must arrive on time at the scheduled time. The show opens every hour and you must enter within 60 minutes. You will not be able to enter after that (there is no limit on the time to leave the museum!)


🚝Transportation
The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka is very convenient to access. Here are some common ways to get to the museum:

1. Take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku to Mitaka Station, then walk 15 minutes to the museum.

2. Take the bus from Kichijoji to the Ghibli Museum stop in Mitaka, then walk for 5 minutes to the museum.

3. Take a taxi from Mitaka Station or Kichijoji Station to the museum. The ride takes about 10 minutes.


🏯The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka is located in the West Garden of Inokashira Park. It has a total of 3 floors and a rooftop garden. It should be noted that taking photos and eating are prohibited in the indoor space of the Ghibli Museum.

Roof Garden
After visiting the indoor exhibition area, you can go to the rooftop garden to take photos with the mechanical soldiers of the Castle in the Sky. At the end of the garden, there is the central stone tablet of the Castle in the Sky, Laputa.
