Ghibli Museum in Mitaka

After much trouble, I finally bought the ticket to the Ghibli Museum. I have watched countless Miyazaki animations since I was a child. My favorites are Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, and My Neighbor Totoro...

There is a huge Totoro standing in the ticket booth at the entrance. I want to go in and hug it🤣

Miyazaki insisted that we could not take pictures of the interior because he wanted us to concentrate on the visit with our eyes. I was already shocked when I entered, it was so beautiful. Sorry, I’m a good kid and didn’t take any pictures of the interior.

After entering the museum, you will first come to the central hall on the first basement floor. On the left is the "Saturn" small theater where animated shorts are shown. Original Ghibli animated shorts are played here.

The permanent exhibition area on the first floor simulates the actual scene of the studio, allowing you to understand the production process of an animated film from draft to film. You can explore scenes that are usually unimaginable here.

On the second floor, there is a "Totoro Bus" display area where children can have a lot of fun. Children can not only watch, but also actually ride in the Totoro Bus.

Of course, you can take pictures outside. When you walk outside, the robots of the Castle in the Sky appear in front of you, which completely fulfills your childhood dream.

Tickets for the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka are pre-ordered at 10 a.m. Japan time every month. To purchase tickets online, please go to the ticket purchase website and click "Exclusive Website for Visitors from Overseas" to enter the exclusive ticket purchase website for overseas visitors. When purchasing tickets, you must specify the date and time of entry. The entry time is divided into four time periods, and you can only enter during the specified time period. Online ticket purchases can only be paid by credit card. After the payment is successful, you can print the ticket purchase certificate. The paper ticket purchase certificate will be exchanged for a film-shaped admission ticket upon entry, which is very collectible!
