There are wavy rocks around Aoshima, called "Oni no Sentakuita", and it is said that the layers of hard sandstone and soft mudstone that were formed in the sea about 7 million years ago were repeatedly piled up, and over a long period of time, the waves eroded it, leaving only the hard sandstone layers piled up like boards. You can see it around the island.
