We had one day in Kyoto, so we chose the Amanohashidate route. Starting from Kyoto Station, we took the morning Hashidate train to Amanohashidate Station. Our first stop was a bus to Ine Bay, where we took a boat ride past the distinctive fishermen’s houses of Ine. We then took a bus to the Amanohashidate Cable Bar / Chair Lift. We chose to take the cable car up. At the top, there is a viewpoint of a 3.6-kilometer-long natural sandbar with over 8,000 pine trees along the way. There are viewing platforms where you can admire the view. The Japanese recommend looking out from between your legs to see a dragon soaring into the sky (use your imagination). We didn’t spend much time up there, so we took the cable car down. It was a really relaxing ride. When we reached the bottom, we had coffee and snacks to fill our stomachs, then walked to Tango Ichonomiya Pier to catch a boat across to the other side (we didn’t take the bus). The boat docked at Yamamoto Pier. From here, we walked to Chionji Temple, which has many interesting spots worth seeing, which was quite relaxing. We then walked to Amanohashidate Beach and ended the trip by walking to Amanohashidate Viewland, another cool theme park that was quite interesting. This is also where we took the cable car up, and there's also a sand dune viewing point. To cap off our chill day, we returned to Kyoto on the adorable Tango No Umi train.
