Mac Ha - Where the sun sleeps

In the frigid far north of China, Mohe appears as the final frontier between man and the sky. In winter, snow covers every road, birch forests stand still in a cold mist, and the sun only shines for a few short hours each day. At night, green and pale purple auroras dance across the sky, reflecting off the thick ice of the Heilongjiang River, which sparkles like glass. Wooden houses flicker with yellow lights, and smoke from their stoves curls in the minus thirty degree cold, creating a feeling of both solitude and warmth. The sound of sleigh bells and reindeer tracks imprinted on the snow evoke a distant Arctic world. Mohe is not just the end of China – it is the frontier of time, where man can touch the pristine silence of the northern sky.
